Steamy River

A few days ago I mentioned a video of "The River" from Glastonbury in which Bruce Springsteen literally has steam rising up off of him. Here it is, at least for now (the BBC's been taking these down as they find them, but this one's been up for a little while so maybe it'll stay). I've never seen anything quite like this. It starts getting steamy (literally!) just before the two-minute mark.

For those watching Wimbledon -- I'm so glad I have tomorrow as a holiday, because the Match of the Andys (Andies?) -- Roddick vs. Murray -- should be awfully entertaining. And I'm sure Roger Federer, who's bound to have a much easier time dismissing his semi-final opponent (Tommy Hass), would love to see them spend five long sets demolishing one another.

Sugarland musician Kristian Bush...

Poet/editor Tim Green...

Tim? You got a cowboy hat hiding around there somewhere? Because it's kind of uncanny. ;)

Happy Fourth, y'all. Be careful if you're playing with fire this weekend.

Ha! I'm hoping this post inspires Tim to start wearing a cowboy hat. That's hot.

Hehe! Just watched Sugarland on "Soundstage" and was really struck by it. It's more obvious watching video than just looking at a picture, actually - if your PBS station carries Soundstage you should check it out. I don't think I've ever seen Kristian without some kind of hat though.

And as it turns out, a friend of mine is friends with Kristian Bush's wife. I didn't ask if she was a cute redhead though! :)

Honestly, Anne... There's REALLY a country singer named Kristian Bush? I can't imagine that conversation. "I'm really into Kristian Bush these days." To which one responds: "_____"

Indeed....

Suddenly I'm beginning to understand why Kristian has never had a solo career...

I'm also anxiously awaiting the Andy match as well.

Regarding the video: Holy Smoke, Batman!

I can hardly stand to listen to Springsteen these days as much as I love him. These songs (all of them) make me unbearably sad. Maybe when I grow up. Loved this video and watching it. The first I've listened to him since Jerry drove away on his motorcycle. Yeah. True.

Pamela - turned out to be a good match, eh? :)

Rebecca - Funny; part of what I love most about him is how many of his songs are tinged with sadness or wistfulness. Even the happy ones aren't, you know, carefree. There's just so much there there, you know? Glad you liked the video. I can't stop watching it! P.S. Don't grow up.
