Small update

Not to turn this blog into all-wrecked-car-all-the-time or body-shop-play-by-play or anything, but after talking to the Total Loss Department at the insurance company (could there be a more depressing office name? "Nice to meet you, where do you work?" "I'm in the Total Loss Department.") and having them call the body shop guy while I waited on hold, it turns out that much to my surprise the car can be repaired. I'm sure this takes its trade-in value down to nil, but now I'll be able to drive it for another year or two and take the time to properly research the whole car buying thing. (Hey, I've been driving the same car since 1991 -- there's a lot to learn about since then.)

I feel tremendously relieved.

I also feel the need to use "Total Loss Department" in a poem. Hmmmm. :)

The first thing that occurred to me was that "Total Loss Department" would be a great name for a poetry magazine.

It screams out for a villanelle. But then I have them on the brain...

Glad your car's going to be okay--surely your luck is taking a turn.

I can just see it, 'Total Loss Department' on the wall in a study. Ah, the irony.

A few months back, I thought my car was totalled, and it wasn't until Sam was fixed that I really felt it. The in-between time may seem long, but at least you're okay.

Are you getting any writing out of this? I hope so.

Hah! It could be a poetry magazine, a book title, or maybe a rock band. ;) Villanelles frighten me, though. I tried to write some when I was an undergrad and it was ... not a good experience. (They were not good villanelles, either!)
