Just quick notes

I want to do this so badly I can taste it. (It tastes like salt.) Perhaps I can apply for an Individual Artist Grant from the state Arts Commission, which would cover it, and then go in say late September or early October of next year. If they'd have me. That seems like a long time from now.

The other day I made a list of places I want to go and things I want to do, and I even left off a bunch of them. I either need a heck of a lot more vacation time and a heck of a lot more money, or a fairy godmother.

Here is a nice article from the Cape Cod Times about the Stanley Kunitz memorial reading at the Fine Arts Work Center this past weekend.

This is cool as hell: The Omnificent English Dictionary in Limerick Form. They are only up to the A's and B's, and you too can contribute if you want to.

My kitten is eating a cardboard box. I really don't know why.

I'm very tired.

Apply for the grant! I am set on doing more things like that now.

I did sit in at the beginning of the Stanley Kunitz Memorial. But I had to leave after an hour to catch a plane. It was kind of cool to hear everyone reading his work out loud. Also, wow, hearing about his life from people who loved him was very inspiring.

I agree with Sheryl -- apply! If the universe is enthusiastic, then the problems will untangle themselves one at a time as you go along. If the fickle universe withdraws its support, you'll know when to stop the process.

I moved here and started massage therapy school while I worked part-time, and I began running out of money and I was considering quitting. Then I got a miracle check from the government to pay some unclaimed benefits and the check amount was almost exactly what I owed on my school tuition. So I figured out I was supposed to keep going with that plan. . .

Sheryl, Garbo -- thanks. We shall see! This year the application deadline was Feb. 1, and I didn't manage it because I had the Martian Death Flu for most of January and just couldn't get it together to put together the application. The trouble is that I probably won't know for sure about the grant until after the time I'll have to commit to the residency, if I should be offered one. I guess that means I just take out a loan if I don't get the grant, huh? Also means I have to have a backup plan for the grant money if I don't get a residency, since I'll be writing the grant application way before finding out if I get the dune shack. Hmm. Well, I have a few months to stew...
