The Atchison, Topeka and...

So, looks like I'm going to be spending a couple days in Santa Fe later on this month for a relative's wedding. I've been to Colorado (only east of the Rockies though) and California, but the Southwest will be completely new ground for me. I'll be flying into Albuquerquererqerquqeruque* and either taking a shuttle or renting a car to get to Santa Fe, so I may conceivably be able to spend a few hours in ABQ on the way in.

Anyone have great suggestions for stuff I should see or do, given that my free time will be pretty limited? I'd especially love to find an interesting bookstore, of course. (It's not a BOOKSTORE ADDICTION. It's PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. Dammit.)

Looking forward to some delicious Mexican food, for sure... yum!

*Yes, I can spell Albuquerque. I just like putting on a few extra querques.

Acequia Booksellers in Albuquerque, a used book store, the address is 4019 4th St. N.W. They had a book table at the cultural conference I went to in Albuquerque last month, with some really interesting impossibly out-of-print stuff.

When I was there I found that the high altitude (ABQ around 5500 feet) affected me more than I'd expected for the first day or so, I kept getting out of breath after walking just a couple of blocks on level ground. But I did adjust after about a day and a half.

Thanks, Lyle! If I do end up splurging & renting a car and if that's relatively near the airport, I may check it out the morning I arrive.

Anne! I do the same thing with queue(ueueueue).

AND I have been singing that song all week as my parental unit is off in the RV to Topeka to watch my brother in a car race. not only that, but L and I are going to Santa Fe end of this month to test the waters for a possible move....

Have a good time. It is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous and spiritual.

Ah, finding bookstores everywhere I go is not an addiction. Oh is it?

PWADJ: I was born in Topeka. :) I'll be in Santa Fe the 25th-28th; maybe we'll pass each other on the street and not even know it!

Jessie: Oh no, not an addiction at all....
