'Tis the season

Dear friends,

Ho ho ho! I'm Santa Bear, and I'm today's guest blogger here at Land Mammal HQ. Yes, I am every bit as fluffy and jolly and all-powerful as I appear to be. So tell me what you want for Christmas. Go on, tell me! Even if you don't celebrate the holiday... that doesn't mean I might not be able to work a little seasonal miracle for you.

Disclaimer: I have absolutely no sway over editors and publishers, and no, I can't get everybody's book published in 2009. And if I could, my own human would have dibs on that particular gift. But I might be able to come up with something else you'd like.

I won't ask you to sit on my knees... but tell me what you want and I'll see what I can do.

Ho ho ho!

Love,

Santa Bear

All I want for Christmas is a cat as plush and content as you, Santa Bear.

A cat that smiles. A cat that gladly wears a Santa hat.

A cat I can give to my mother that
will replace--yet never replace, since a beloved pet is irreplaceable--her cat that died in August.

My mother needs a new cat, Santa Bear. Can you do that? Bring my mother a new cat?

(my word verification is "cryina")

Dear Santa Bear:

My family. All here. Eating brunch.

That's what I want. Not another bottle of perfume, not another pink sweater, not another pound and a half of pecans.

PS It would really help if this year the bacon wasn't black enough to carbon-date.

Ho ho ho! I've, er, been informed that my lack of opposable thumbs may present some difficulties in the delivery of gifts and the granting of wishes. I will do my best, but if any of you would rather have a slightly worse-for-wear mousie, you've got a little better shot.

LKD, you should check the shelters... that's where I came from, six years ago this week. There are an awful lot of wonderful cats out there who aren't as lucky as I am.

Pamela, I'm with you on the bacon. Chewy! Not black!

Ho ho ho and love & catnip to all,

Santa Bear

That cat was born to wear THE HAT.

Radish Person: I was born to sleep on a heated kitty bed and get belly rubs and follow my human into the kitchen every so often and make big eyes at her until she gives me treats. THE HAT is purely window dressing. You gotta admit I look darn GOOD though. ;)

Santa bear I'm impressed you sat and agreed to wear the hat. my santa elves were not feeling it and have refused their santa hats.

I'm Jewish, Santa Bear, but I made my secret wish anyway and I can tell from the look on your face that you got the message. I try to be realistic (did I mention I'm Jewish?) so if I can't have what I asked for, can I have a Target gift card? When I was shopping for other people, I saw a lot of stuff I want.
