IU Writers' Conference readings

"Drinking the water is the hardest part. My hand shakes and you can see my inner chihuahua."
--Mark Wunderlich, between poems, bottle of water in hand.

Other readers tonight: Jon Tribble and Dana Johnson (whose book of short stories, Break Any Woman Down, is pretty terrific). All three readers were quite good.

Funny reading quote. I'll have to use it sometime.

OH MY GOD! I LOVE THAT QUOTE BY MARK WUNDERLICH!!!

It's a keeper!

Have a great time in P-town. I just found out from FAWC that my workshop was cancelled, so I'm not going up to the Cape this year after all. :(

Please have a Cosmopolitan for me- eh, make that two or three!

Glad you guys liked the chihuahua bit. :) I giggled. Having read both of Wunderlich's books, giggling was not something I'd expected to do at his reading. Heh.

William, bummer about your workshop being cancelled! I would cry if mine got cancelled. And then I'd go to P-town anyway, since I have nonrefundable plane tickets. Maybe next year you can go...

Hi, Anne:
I was at that reading! Since I was participating in the conference, I went to all the readings. Although I'm a fiction guy myself, the most enjoyable readings all week, I thought, were poetry: Barbara Hamby and David Kirby and Tyehimba Jess.
